Do you have a web-site? Yes we do, you can visit it at http://www.oldcorpseroad.co.uk
What is the name of your best song? That’s a tough question. If we were to go on crowd response and online popularity The Witch of Wookey Hole or The Cauld Lad of Hylton are our most popular songs.
What kind of music are you into? We listen to a wide variety of music in the band. We are all big fans of the black metal scene and listen to many bands from Emperor to Nazxul, Arcturus to Negura Bunget. If we are honest we prefer the earlier bands however there are still some fantastic new bands out there like Eibon La Furies and A Forest of Stars...
We are also fans of ambient acts such as Dead Can Dance and the Cold Meat Industries roster (like Arcana and Raison Detre). Other areas of interest are the metal scene in general (everything from Iron Maiden to Cryptopsy to My Dying Bride). Film scores (John Williams) and classical music (Holst) is another area of interest. Every member has a pretty eclectic taste, although its almost always leaning towards metal.
Have you been on tour this summer? We have just completed a mini tour of the UK consisting of Kings Lynn, Bristol, Manchester, London and Wakefield. The London date was a particular highlight as it was sponsored by Terrorizer Magazine who have been really supportive to us.
Do you have a planed tour anytime soon? We have lots of upcoming gigs across the UK over the rest of this year. See here for more information : http://www.oldcorpseroad.co.uk/index.php/live
Who came up with the band name? The band name was discovered by The Dreamer and The Bearer whilst on a trip to the Lake District The Old Corpse Road is an actual track that starts on Haweswater. For more info ; Corpse Roads provided a practical means of allowing the transport of corpses to cemeteries that had burial rights. In Britain, such routes can also be known by a number of other names: bier road, burial road, coffin road, coffin line, lyke or lych way, funeral road, procession way, etc. Such "church-ways" have developed a great deal of associated folklore regarding wraiths, spirits, ghosts, and such-like. Many of the corpse roads have long disappeared, while the original purposes of those that still survive as footpaths have been largely forgotten, especially if features such as coffin stones or crosses no longer exist.
Who writes the songs? The band write all music together.
What song do you play the most? Old Corpse Road, which is always at the end of any concert we play.
Do you play the same songs each performance? The set tends to be changed every year, there are some core songs we like to play such as Old Corpse Road and the Witch of Wookey Hole, but the other tracks tend to represent the release we are promoting at the time. Our main goal is to at least play one song from each release.
Have you released an album or single? To date we have released our demo ep The Echoes of Tales Once Told 2008 a split EP The Bones of this Land Are Not Speechless 2010 and our debut album 'Tis Witching Hour...As Spectres We Haunt the Kingdom 2012
Are you working on any new songs? As a band we are constantly working on new material. There are new songs prepared for upcoming releases but that's all we can say for now...
